County dialogue

Kisii County Governor James Ongwae led residents at the county level in celebrating his second year in office.

The Governor highlighted the challenges and success of his administration.

The celebration comes a week after sub county dialogues held last week in every sub county headquarters.

Addressing residents at the Kisii Cultural center, Ongwae pointed out that the feedback received from sub county dialogues indicates that locals understand the role of the County Government as they were able to identify the strides the government has made in road infrastructure, the County Bursary fund and street lighting.

He added that locals also appreciates spring protection programme and wants more investment in water reticulation, establishment of the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital and wants more focus on equipping health facilities with drugs and staff.

Ongwae announced that in the County’s Annual Development Plan 2014/2015, the county has prioritized road infrastructure development, healthcare, market development, water reticulation, human resource and social protection.

He said that his administration is concentrating on service delivery to realize our vision of a prosperous county for all.

The function was also attended by Deputy Governor Joash Maangi, County Assembly Speaker Kerosi Ondieki, County Commissioner Chege Mwangi, members of County assembly Chief Executive Officers, Chief Officers among other officers.

Ongwae said in the past one-year, the county managed to build over 500km of roads up to compacted murram standard in all wards to ensure market access for farmers.

He observed that this financial year another 350km of compacted gravel roads will be done and a further 200km of village roads adding that he has finalized mechanisms for making the road works labour intensive thus creating jobs for the youth and women.
