Deputy Governor


 H.E Hon Joash Maangi , the Deputy Governor for Kisii County, holds a doctorate degrees in Juris (JD)  from  William Mitchel College of Law,  in St Paul Minnesota, USA, Diploma in law from the Kenya School of Law and a Bachelor of Law degree (LLB) from the University of Nairobi.

Hon Maangi has extensive international legal, marketing and business experience having worked both in Kenya and the US for a period of over 21 years.

 He started his career in Kenya in 1991 as a law pupil in the firm of Mugambi & Ali Advocates under the tutorage of Abida Ali-Aroni, the former chairman of the Constitutional Reform Commission, and currently a Judge of the High Court of Kenya. He successfully completed his studies from the Kenya school of Law and was admitted into the bar as Advocate of the High Court and started practing.

He later founded the law firm of Maangi & Company Advocates where he was principal partner till 1997 when he relocated to the United States.

 In the US, Hon. Maangi worked with Extendicare Corporation in their Minnesota facility of St Louis Park as a staffing and recruitment supervisor till 2001 when he resigned to join the William Mitchell College of Law graduating with a Doctor of Juris (JD) degree in 2005.

 While at the William Mitchell College of Law, Hon. Maangi worked as a law clerk for the Honorable Judge (Retired) LaJune Thomas Lange of the Minnesota State Courts. He also worked as a staff attorney with the law firm of Marcus Jarvis & Associates.

 Hon. Maangi joined the International Leadership Institute as its International Coordinator where among other achievements he successfully negotiated and signed an historical agreement with the New Government of South Sudan and the International Leadership Institute allowing the latter to support the Government of South Sudan in the development of their judiciary and law sector.

He still serves the International Leadership Institute as their coordinator in East Africa and co-chairs the ILI global business roundtable for the East African Region.

 Hon. Joash Maangi worked with the international law firm of H.M. Ongeri & Associate at its Minneapolis office and serves as consultant (Legal) for the African Business Consulting Group (ABC), an International business consulting firm.  He also worked with Lemna International as its Vice President/Business Development in Kenya.

Hon. Joash Maangi is a former Chairman of the Kenya Community in Minnesota where while in office he hosted several high ranking politicians in Minnesota as they reached out to Kenyans in the Diaspora.

 He served as Chairman of the 2007 Pan African Investment Summit held in Minnesota where several African countries including Kenya got a first opportunity to market their business and investment opportunities in the American Mid West. The conference was graced by five ambassadors from Africa including Kenya’s ambassador to the United State of America and several high ranking business and government leaders including the governor of Minnesota as well as the president of Cargil and Managing Director of Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC).
