Kisii County’s volleyball teams today secured a spot in the Round of 16 as the Kenya Inter-Counties Sports and Cultural Association (KICOSCA) Games kicked off in Siaya County.
The Governor Simba Arati’s team triumphed in both of their opening matches, defeating Nandi 3–1 and edging out Laikipia 3–2 in tightly contested games held at Awelo Comprehensive School.
The county also extended their winning streak in both the Women’s and Men’s Tug of War competitions.
The women’s team overpowered Kericho and Narok counties, while the men’s team convincingly defeated Kiambu and Bungoma.
In netball, the county dominated Kiambu with a 16–7 victory before narrowly falling to Vihiga 10–11.
In the women’s draughts category, Kisii registered victories against Nyandarua, Machakos, Kericho, and Narok, and settled for a draw with Uasin Gishu.
Meanwhile, Caroline Onchieku secured third place behind West Pokot and Uasin Gishu, earning the county its first trophy after her solo chant performance titled “Omogisangio.”
The games continue tomorrow as teams enter the second day of competition.
