Kisii County Governor Simba Arati has raised concern over a section of leaders allegedly inciting the business community against remitting taxes.
Simba appealed to the public, traders, transporters, boda boda operators and all categories of business operators to ensure that they meet their revenue obligations as stipulated in the county Finance Bill.
“It has come to our notice that some leaders are inciting the public against remitting taxes in the form of various rates due to the county. Consequently, we are still below par in revenue collection this financial year, this being the last quarter of the Financial Year,” he said.
He called on bodaboda riders to make payment for stickers starting tomorrow (Wednesday 5th) saying the monthly payment is costing Ksh. 300 while annual payment goes at Ksh. 2,000.
Simba said paying tax is an inalienable obligation, based in law and it is the responsibility for all to remit revenues on a timely basis, as per stream established.
“On our part as county government, we are setting mechanisms to ensure that the money raised through taxes is diligently collected and accounted for,” he assured.
