Simba vows to improve healthcare in the county

Governor Paul Simba Arati has vowed to improve and strengthen healthcare services across the county.

The Governor reiterated that transformation of health services is one of the major priorities by his administration and called on support from all medical staff to deliver on the mandate.

Addressing health management teams from all sub counties, the county and the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital (KTRH) at the Kisii Culture Hall, Simba observed that during the last campaign period, he promised the people of Kisii that his government will totally provide essential medical care closer to them.

“This can be realized only if dispensaries, health centers, and other public hospitals in all wards are well managed. I will ensure that there are enough drugs and that essential services are offered in such facilities so that residents can access help in hospitals near them,” said Arati.

The Governor who also undertook to improve conditions of health workers across all cadres without discrimination said he will ensure proper functionality of all health facilities and told managers to prudently account for pharmaceuticals and non-pharmaceuticals for the benefit of patients.

He said his administration through the department of health services will boost preventive measures to avert communicable diseases among them Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) that are common in the region.

“Healthcare is at the center of my heart. My government will walk and support all healthcare givers to ensure that they offer satisfactory services to the people who overwhelmingly elected me,” said Simba.

He was accompanied by his deputy Dr. Robert Monda, the County Executive Committee (CEC) member in charge of health services Leah Bwari, Chief Officer Medical Services, Public Health and Sanitation Gladys Aminga departmental heads among other officers.

Dr. Monda tasked healthcare practitioners to lay down strategies that can help strengthen healthcare systems and urged them to diligently discharge their services to satisfy mwananchi.

“We can only succeed as a county in the area of health services if the administrators, especially those attached in sub counties, manage the facilities with utmost care. Count on our support because we understand how important your docket is,” said Dr. Monda.
