Residents of Nyaribari Chache to benefit from a multi million lighting project initiated by Kisii county government

Residents of Nyaribari Chache, Kisii county will benefit from a multi million lighting project initiated by Kisii county government. Governor James Ongwae who spoke in Keumbu market while on a tour of the market said the high mast lighting project will bolster business in the second largest market after Kisii town to help the residents enjoy a 24 hour economy.

"To promote a 24 hour economy within Keumbu and improve security, my Government has put up two High masts and will be adding two more Highmast lamps to cover a large area. The Government is also putting up eight solar lights to support the street lighting programme," said Ongwae.

The governor said he will support the traders who are selling their wares on the road side and curb road accidents on the busy highway by developing a bus-bay complete with shades to enable the traders undertake their businesses safely and conveniently.

To improve sanitation and public health the Ongwae administration is putting up public washroom for the traders, who are operating within the market. " Am aware that Keumbu has serious cleanliness and garbage collection challenges. To address these challenges, the Government has contracted a cleaning youth group from this area group which I am launching today. I am expecting this group to undertake their assignment with dedication and commitment and ensure that our town is clean at all times,"

The Kisii county government has been grappling with the issue of waste management as the only site in Nyambera in Kisii town is full. The governor asked residents of Nyaribari Chache to co-operate and support the Government in its efforts in identifying suitable place for waste management. iCurrently waste from Keumbu is taken to Etora in Bomachoge which raises the cost of managing the waste.

In Health the governor opened a state of the art mini theatre in Keumbu Sub County Hospital that will be administering minor operations to residents. He assured the residents of the area of constant supply of medicine to the hospital saying the problem of Kemsa's erratic supply will be sufficiently addressed.
